At North Shore Animal League America’s Pet Health Centers, we strive to provide the highest quality medical care in an environment that is safe and comfortable for our clients, our staff, and most importantly for the animals in our care. That is why we will soon be undergoing a renovation to our Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Veterinary Medical Center, located at 16 Lewyt Street on our Port Washington, NY campus.
What is being done?
We will be replacing the entire roof, as well as installing a new HVAC system. Both projects are a much needed upgrade to our building and will result in a healthier environment for all. We are expected to begin the renovation the first week of July, 2021, with the project currently expected to run through August.
How will this affect our clients?
As a result of this construction, we will not be able to see any clients at the Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Veterinary Medical Center, and instead we will be working out of the Don and Karen LaRocca Pet Wellness Center at 63 S. Bayles Avenue – also on our Port Washington, NY campus.
During this time we will have to limit the number of appointments we can see daily due to the limited capacity available. We will primarily be covering:
• Wellness Visits such as vaccinations, preventatives, annual check-ups, medical follow-up.
• Urgent Care where it pertains to life threatening illness or injury and ongoing medical treatment.
Due to our limited availability, we will not be able to handle any non-urgent/elective procedures except where it pertains to an urgent medical condition.
We will not be able to perform spay/neuter services for pets other than those in our shelter. If you would like to find affordable spay/neuter services during this time, please visit SpayUSA.org.
